Hot Topic

THE Pun was too easy, but it wouldn't be much of a blog if I didn't throw my voice into the tempest that is the debate on Global Warming (which ironically might cause more tempests). It would be best to first decide if it exists, it does. The fact is that predicting things like climate science is incredibly complex(one of the fastest computers in the world had to be built just to run climate models at a resolution of 10 sq. km!). So it is something to get any sort of answer. When you get the same answers over and over again you really have something. In our case we have a world that is getting warmer, because of us.

So how are we supposed to handle climate crises? Well, fortunately we don't have to start from scratch. Freons nearly made 1000 SPF sunscreen the "it" item of this century, but we got on top the problem. 191 Countries signed the Montreal Protocol and we've turned around the damage we've done (though full recovery may take another 50 years!). The Kyoto protocol is flawed, but the idea is correct. We must reduce greenhouse emissions. Selling permits for CO2 production and similar creative solutions can be implemented with minimal economics costs. The debate must move forward. Global Warming is real. The government must Regulate Business, not just for the future of the environment, but for the future of the businesses themselves. We have pragmatic solutions on the table. Let's talk about what is best for us and let's make it happen.
